Why is drinking pop so bad for losing weight?

Answered By Editor

Soda (aka pop) is high in calories. Sodas usually have 200+ calories per serving, and in a 20oz bottle there are generally 2 to 2.5 servings. So if you drink a whole 20oz bottle of soda, you'll be drinking 400 to 500 calories. Because sodas are mostly sugar or high fructose corn syrup and coloring, they really have no nutritional value. Dr. Oz says that if you drink soda everyday you have the potential to put on 15-20 lbs per year. So, if you're dieting and trying to lose weight, I'd recommend sticking to drinking water.
